Vermont Foodbank’s Open House for the Kingsbury Farm
Plans for the farm revealed. Refreshments and tours provided.
WHEN: Saturday, May 16, 2009, 3:00-5:00PM
WHAT: Open House and Ground Breaking at the Kingsbury Farm, in Warren. The Foodbank was chosen last summer to be the next owners of the landmark property and closed on the property late March 2009. The farm will allow the Vermont Foodbank to diversify its food sources, while providing more fresh produce to food shelves and meal sites in the Mad River Valley and throughout Vermont. Please join the Vermont Foodbank, to learn about plans for the 2010 growing season. Tours and refreshments provided. Parking is limited.
3:00 – 3:30: Refreshments and viewing of Foodbank plans for the Kingsbury Farm
3:30 – 3:45: Welcome from John Sayles, CEO of the Vermont Foodbank and Gil Livingston, President of the Vermont Land Trust
3:45 – 4:00: Unveiling of the Kingsbury Farm sign and groundbreaking ceremony
4:00 – 5:00: Tours of the farmstead with the Vermont Foodbank and tours of the riverbank area with the Vermont Land Trust

Warren, VT
Directions: The Kingsbury Farm is located on Route 100 in Warren, one-half mile north of the Sugarbush Access Road and next to Mac’s Market.
From the North: From Burlington on I-89 take Exit 10 and get onto Route 100 South. From Montpelier on I-89 take Exit 9 and get onto Route 100B South. 100B turns into 100 after going through Moretown. Continue on Route 100 South though Waitsfield. You will pass Route 17 - continue on Route 100 for another 5 miles. On the right you will see a Mac's Convenience Store and Gas Station. The Kingsbury Community Farm is right after the Mac's. Take the first right after Mac's to enter the driveway.
From the South: Take Route 100 North. Continue past the entrance for Warren Village for about 3 more miles. You will cross over a green iron bridge. The Kingsbury farm is right after the bridge. Take the first left after the bridge to enter the driveway.
